Briefly Describe the Purpose of the Program
The Township Bridge Program (TBP) provides funds for the rehabilitation, replacement, or construction of bridges on the township highway system greater than 20 feet. The funds are from the state portion of the Motor Fuel Tax Fund and subject to rescission after 48 months. The annual funding distribution to Counties is based on township mileage.

A township that is eligible to receive MFT may request to use the funding on a structure that is greater than 20 feet. The respective County Engineer coordinates the priorities.

Funding Cap Per Application or Fiscal Year Program Funding:
The program is $60 million statewide and distributed to Counties based on township mileage.
How Must Funds Be Used: The funding is to be used by a township on an eligible structure and must follow MFT standards and policy according to the IDOT Bureau of Local Roads & Street Manual. The funding may cover 80% of eligible costs.
