Briefly Describe the Purpose of the Program | ||
This program provides funding to participants for competitive capital grants for projects, purchases or purposes required for the provision of public transportation in public transit service areas. | ||

Eligibility Requirements or Restrictions: | ||
Competitive capital grants must be for projects, purchases or purposes that are: 1. required for the provision of public transportation 2. identified in the IDOT’s annual Capital Needs Assessment 3. identified in the comprehensive long-range or short-range planning documents in the region for which the applicant is a part; and 4. in accordance with the guidelines set forth in IDOT’s Capital Grant Manual. |

IDOT OIPI will publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity which will outline application processes and due dates on the IDOT website as funding become available. | ||
Funding Cap Per Application or Fiscal Year Program Funding: Approximately $2.8 million. |

How Must Funds Be Used: | ||
The funding must be used for public transit capital projects such as revenue vehicle expansion or replacement projects, new or rehab facility construction projects, and capital procurement projects. This may include projects like sidewalks leading to bus stops etc. |
